Sahney Says Gurdwaras Must Not Become Protest Sites

Vikramjit Singh Sahney said a gurdwara should be a place for prayer, service and quiet reflection.

He was talking about protests at Gurdwara Bangla Sahib in Delhi.

on Saturday but did not enter the main gurdwara.

He said protesters arrived around 1 p.m.

and displayed signs and raised slogans.

Volunteers had asked them not to do those things inside the premises, according to Sahney.

He said gurdwaras welcome people who need food or shelter, but that hospitality should not turn the place into a protest site.

Sahney also thanked singer Diljit Dosanjh and the organisers for considering a request to reschedule a Delhi concert set for November 1.
