Delhi Plan Proposes Redevelopment Of Unauthorised Colonies, JJ Housing

Delhi has proposed a new plan to improve crowded unauthorised colonies.

Nearby colonies may be redeveloped together so they can have better roads, open spaces and public services.

Developers or resident groups can suggest projects covering at least 2,000 square metres.

These projects must include facilities such as schools, healthcare centres and community halls.

The plan also addresses people living in slum and Jhuggi Jhopri clusters.

Where possible, eligible residents would get new homes in the same community.

Some residents may instead be relocated or have their neighbourhoods improved.

People living on floodplains, drains, railway safety zones or other protected land will not receive rehabilitation or compensation under the proposal.
