Singapore Launches State-Backed Dating App Amid Demographic Crisis

Singapore has started a dating app called FirstDate.

It is meant to help with the country’s demographic crisis.

For now, only government employees can use it.

People sign up with Singpass, Singapore’s digital identification system.

The system checks their identity, age and legal marital status.

The app gives two people 72 hours to decide whether they want to connect.

This makes the process different from simply swiping through profiles.

The government can observe how the app is working.
