Restored 'Sholay' to Re-release in India with Original Uncut Ending
A very famous old Indian movie called 'Sholay' is going to be shown in theaters again in a super clear picture quality, like watching a new movie.
This special showing is happening because the movie is turning 50 years old!
What makes it extra special is that it will show the movie's very end exactly as the director first made it.
A long time ago, the ending was changed because some people thought it was too violent.
In the original ending, a hero character named Thakur finally defeats the bad guy, Gabbar Singh.
This new version will show that original ending for the first time in many years.
It will be shown in 1,500 theaters, making it a huge comeback for this beloved film.
The Bollywood classic 'Sholay' will be re-released in a restored 4K version titled 'Sholay – The Final Cut' on December 12, 2025.
The re-release will be shown across 1,500 theatres nationwide, coinciding with the film's 50th anniversary.
For the first time, audiences will see the film's original climax where Thakur kills Gabbar Singh.
This original ending was altered before the 1975 release due to censorship concerns over its violence.
The restoration aims to present director Ramesh Sippy's original vision for the film.
