Meghna Gulzar Says Daayra’s Social Questions Remain Relevant
Daayra is a new film directed by Meghna Gulzar.
The story was given to her during the lockdown in 2020.
She decided it was important because its questions would still matter years later.
The movie looks at situations where it is difficult to decide who is right or wrong.
It shows that something one person sees as justice may look like injustice to someone else.
Gulzar said the film combines details from several real cases across the country.
It is not set in one particular city or focused on one police force.
Kareena Kapoor Khan and Prithviraj Sukumaran play the main characters.
The film is planned for release in theatres on September 18.
Meghna Gulzar said Daayra was first sent to her during the 2020 lockdown.
She chose the story because of its central question and continuing relevance.
The film explores moral ambiguity, duality, and differing ideas of justice.
Gulzar said Daayra combines several real cases rather than depicting one specific incident or region.
