Toxic Faces Fierce Trolling Despite Defenders Finding Deeper Themes
Toxic is a movie starring Yash and directed by Geetu Mohandas.
It received a large opening after being released in many Indian cinemas.
Soon afterward, many people online began calling it a very bad movie.
They criticized the acting, story, editing, dialogue, and some performances by the female cast.
Some viewers, however, think the movie has interesting ideas about guilt and the choices people make.
The article says the film is flawed but not as terrible as many online comments suggest.
There are also unproven claims that some reviews were paid for or part of a conspiracy.
The article concludes that fair criticism is useful, but extreme trolling is harmful.
Toxic opened across nearly 7,000 Indian screens in six languages on August 26 but reportedly saw a sharp box-office decline the following day.
Online criticism targeted Yash’s performance, the female cast, Geetu Mohandas’s direction, the film’s editing, dialogue, and action sequences.
Supporters argue that Toxic explores guilt, personal choices, relationships, and downfall beneath its flawed execution.
The film has also prompted unverified conspiracy claims and accusations that some positive reviews were paid for by its makers.
The article argues that constructive criticism is valid, but extreme online hate and predictions of Yash’s downfall are disproportionate.
