Delhi Plans Incentives for Retrofitting Old Cars to EVs
The Delhi government is thinking about giving money to people who change their old petrol and diesel cars into electric vehicles (EVs).
They will give Rs 50,000 to the first 1,000 people who do this.
This is to help reduce air pollution and make more people use EVs.
Right now, very old petrol and diesel cars are not allowed on the roads.
The government also wants to increase the number of electric two-wheelers and improve the EV system in Delhi.
They are also thinking about making it safer for e-rickshaws and e-carts.
Delhi government proposes Rs 50,000 incentive for first 1,000 old vehicles retrofitted into EVs.
Retrofitting involves replacing internal combustion engines with battery-operated electric kits.
Incentive aims to encourage reuse of old vehicles, especially luxury cars, instead of scrapping them.
Current restrictions ban petrol vehicles older than 15 years and diesel vehicles older than 10 years from Delhi roads.
Government plans to increase R&D fund for EV technology and set higher targets for electric two-wheelers.
