India Honors Peacekeepers on International Day
The UN is celebrating International Day of Peacekeepers to remember people who help keep peace around the world.
This year, they're honoring two Indian peacekeepers who died while on duty.
India sends a lot of people to help with peacekeeping, and many of them are serving in different parts of the world.
During the ceremony, medals will be given to peacekeepers who lost their lives.
The UN wants to make sure peacekeeping works well in the future and recognizes the bravery of all who serve, especially those who gave their lives for peace.
Two Indian peacekeepers will be honored posthumously with the Dag Hammarskjold medal.
The ceremony is to mark International Day of UN Peacekeepers.
India is the fourth-largest contributor of uniformed personnel to UN Peacekeeping.
More than 4,400 peacekeepers have died since 1948.
The theme for this year’s International Day of U.N. Peacekeepers is the 'Future of Peacekeeping'.
