PepsiCo Opens First Assam Food Factory With Rs 778 Crore
PepsiCo has opened a new food factory in Nalbari, Assam.
The company invested Rs 778 crore in the facility.
Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma inaugurated it.
The factory will make Lay’s and Uncle Chipps snacks.
It is expected to create about 700 direct and indirect jobs.
PepsiCo says the plant will also support local businesses and farmers.
More than 5,000 farmers may benefit by supplying special potatoes for chips.
The company also plans for more than 75 percent of the workforce to be women.
PepsiCo India inaugurated its first food manufacturing facility in Assam’s Nalbari district at an investment of Rs 778 crore.
The 44.2-acre facility was inaugurated by Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma.
The factory is expected to create about 700 direct and indirect employment opportunities.
It will manufacture Lay’s and Uncle Chipps for PepsiCo’s food network in Northeast India and West Bengal.
The plant will source chip-grade potatoes, benefiting more than 5,000 farmers and creating demand for about 60,000 tonnes of cold storage capacity.
