India Sets Minimum Import Price for PVC Resin
The Indian government said that any company that wants to bring PVC resin into the country must pay at least $0.766 for each kilogram.
This rule is only for six months and does not stop all imports.
It is meant to help India make more PVC at home, because right now the country needs more than it can produce.
The rule also lets companies that export or use special economic zones still bring in cheaper PVC.
Big companies like Adani and Reliance are building new plants to make more PVC in India.
India’s Commerce Ministry set a minimum import price of $0.766 per kg for PVC Suspension Resin to curb import dependence.
The six‑month rule exempts exports, EOU, SEZ, and Advance Authorization Scheme imports.
Domestic PVC production (1,615 kt) is below demand (4,139 kt), but about 3,000 kt of new capacity is expected in 2026‑27.
The policy is not a ban; imports at or above the set price remain allowed, and the Ministry cites cost assessment and anti‑dumping findings.
Adani Group and Reliance Industries plan large PVC plants (2 MMT and 1.5 MMT respectively) to boost domestic supply.
