CBS Early Renewals Leave Watson & DMV on the Bubble
CBS has renewed many of its shows for next season, but two shows, Watson and DMV, are still waiting to see if they will be renewed.
Watson is a medical drama that is part of the Sherlock Holmes universe.
It had good ratings when it first started but has since seen a decline.
DMV is a comedy about people working at the DMV.
It started strong with good ratings and reviews, but it is not clear if it will be renewed.
CBS has a lot of shows already, and it is hard to fit in new ones.
They will decide after seeing how Watson does after it comes back from its winter break and how Marshals, a new show, performs.
DMV is competing with another comedy pilot for a spot on the schedule.
CBS has renewed ten existing scripted series for the 2026-27 season, including NCIS, Tracker, Matlock, and Georgie & Mandy’s First Marriage.
Watson and DMV are the only CBS scripted series currently on the air whose fate remains uncertain for next season.
Watson, a medical drama in the Sherlock Holmes universe, saw its ratings decline after being moved to Mondays and is currently the lowest-rated scripted series on CBS.
DMV, a workplace comedy, had a strong start with good ratings and reviews but faces competition from another comedy pilot, Eternally Yours.
CBS will likely make a final decision on Watson after its March 1 return and the debut of Marshals, a Yellowstone offshoot.
