Singtel Seeks India FDI Approval for Satellite Communication Entry

Singtel is a large telecom company from Singapore.

It wants permission to offer satellite internet and communication services in India.

Its Indian company has asked the government for approval to receive foreign investment for this expansion.

Singtel already has a large stake in Bharti Airtel.

The company may use satellites in space to connect government agencies and businesses.

One report mentions a group of about 28 to 36 geostationary satellites, while another describes systems using several kinds of satellite orbits.

Other companies, including Starlink, Amazon, Reliance Jio and Eutelsat OneWeb, also want to enter this market.

These services could help people and organizations in places where ordinary networks are hard or expensive to build.

However, satellite services in India still face unresolved rules, pricing questions and security approvals.
