Man killed as balcony of dilapidated Tollygunge building collapses

A man named Samir Sen was standing on the balcony of his old apartment building when the balcony suddenly broke and fell.

The building was very old and unsafe.

Mr. Sen was the only person who lived there.

Sadly, he was badly hurt and died at the hospital.

City workers had warned that the building was unsafe before this happened.

After the accident, city workers removed parts of the building that could fall down.

The city says there are almost 2,000 old and unsafe buildings like this one.

Many of these buildings have tenants, and the owners are stuck in legal fights.

The city has a plan that lets owners build more floors if they give the tenants new homes, which is meant to help fix the problem of unsafe old buildings.
