Toll Gate Planned for Guwahati Bridge
The government is building a toll gate on a big bridge in Guwahati.
This bridge, which will be opened soon by the Prime Minister, connects Guwahati and North Guwahati.
The toll gate will only charge heavy vehicles like trucks, not small cars.
This is to stop too many trucks from coming into the city and to make them use the highway instead.
The bridge is very long and is being built with help from a bank.
The toll gate will cost about Rs 6.11 crore to build and will be ready in three months.
A toll gate will be constructed on the Guwahati-North Guwahati bridge, which will be inaugurated next month by Prime Minister Narendra Modi.
The toll plaza will cost Rs 6.11 crore and is expected to be completed in three months.
Only heavy vehicles will be charged a toll fee to regulate traffic and prevent trucks from entering the city.
The bridge project cost was revised to Rs 3,030 crore, with 80% funding from the New Development Bank and 20% from the Assam Government.
The bridge is 1.24 km long over the Brahmaputra river, with a total project length of 8.4 km including approach roads.
