Panvel Constitution Pillar Proposal Nears General Body Approval
People in Panvel want to build a special pillar outside the new city office building.
This pillar would have the beginning words of India's big rule book, called the Constitution, written on it.
Those words talk about fairness, freedom, and treating everyone the same.
A man named Sachin Gaikwad is asking the city leaders to say yes to this idea.
He has talked to many important offices about it.
The city workers have started getting ready for it.
But the final yes has to come from the group of elected leaders who make decisions for the city.
Mr. Gaikwad hopes all leaders will agree, no matter which team they are on.
He says the Constitution belongs to everyone, not just one group.
If they agree, the pillar will remind everyone about the country's important values.
A proposal to erect a Constitution Pillar featuring the Preamble outside the new Panvel Municipal Corporation headquarters has moved closer to General Body approval.
Constitution enthusiast Sachin Shahaji Gaikwad has written to the mayor, Leader of Opposition, and corporators urging support for the proposal.
Correspondence regarding the project has been undertaken with the state government, district collector, tehsil administration, and the municipal corporation.
The civic administration has reportedly initiated preliminary preparations, but final approval requires discussion and a vote by the PMC General Body.
Gaikwad has appealed for a unanimous decision, stressing that 'the Constitution has no political party' and that constitutional values should remain above political differences.
