India Holds High‑Level Meeting Amid West Asia Crisis
India’s Prime Minister Narendra Modi is leading a big meeting with top ministers to talk about a fight in West Asia.
The fight is between Iran and the United States, and it has made shipping in the Strait of Hormuz risky.
Because India gets a lot of its oil through that sea, the government is worried about getting enough fuel.
They are also thinking about how to protect their interests if the fighting gets worse.
The meeting is happening right now in the Indian Parliament.
Prime Minister Narendra Modi chaired a high‑level meeting in Parliament with top ministers and NSA Ajit Doval amid the West Asia crisis.
Attendees included Home Minister Amit Shah, Defence Minister Rajnath Singh, Commerce Minister Piyush Goyal, Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman, Health Minister Jagat Prakash Nadda, External Affairs Minister Subrahmanyam Jaishankar, Petroleum Minister Hardeep Singh Puri, and Ports Minister Sarbananda Sonowal.
The West Asia crisis involves a collapsed ceasefire between Iran and the United States, leading to airstrikes and retaliatory missile attacks.
Iran has threatened to charge tolls for passage through the Strait of Hormuz, a key shipping route for India’s energy supplies.
The crisis threatens India’s energy security and fuel supplies, prompting the government to discuss potential use of force.
