Mumbai Toxic Fumes Deaths Trigger BMC Demolition Drive

Mumbai Toxic Fumes Deaths Trigger BMC Demolition Drive

Two people died after breathing poisonous fumes in a public toilet in Mumbai.

The incident happened in Goregaon East.

The next day, the city corporation began removing unauthorised structures nearby.

Officials said more than 50 structures were demolished.

These structures were under the Murali Nair flyover.

Officials said an industrial unit nearby may have dumped chemical waste into the toilet.

The public toilet itself will remain because officials call it a community structure.

The incident led to a major cleanup and demolition operation.
