BMTC Suspends 3 Conductors for UPI Fraud
Some bus conductors in Bengaluru were found to be taking money from passengers using their own phone apps instead of the official ones.
This meant they kept the money for themselves and didn't give tickets to the passengers.
The bus company found out during a check and has now suspended three of these conductors.
They have also told all managers to watch closely to make sure this doesn't happen again.
BMTC suspended three conductors for diverting passenger fares to personal UPI accounts.
The issue was detected during routine inspections in December 2025.
Conductors used personal UPI scanners instead of BMTC-issued devices and did not issue tickets.
BMTC has issued strict instructions to monitor UPI scanners and adhere to ticketing procedures.
Passengers either did not ask for tickets or were unaware of the ticketing system.
