Early Monday morning, a fire started in a hotel in a town called Tarapith in West Bengal, India.

The hotel had four floors, and the fire began on the ground floor.

It happened around 5 o'clock in the morning, when most of the people staying there were sleeping.

Sadly, at least seven people lost their lives in the fire.

Several other people were hurt very badly.

Firefighters came quickly with fire trucks and managed to put out the fire.

The injured people were taken to a hospital in a nearby town called Rampurhat.

Police said the fire happened in the Birbhum district.

It was a very sad and scary morning for everyone at the hotel.
