SC dismisses ex-AP minister's anticipatory bail plea
The Supreme Court of India recently made a decision about a former minister from Andhra Pradesh.
This minister, named Karumuri Venkata Nageswara Rao, had asked the court for something called 'anticipatory bail.'
This is a special permission that would have allowed him to avoid being arrested while he was being investigated for a case involving illegal transportation of liquor.
However, the Supreme Court decided not to grant this permission.
The court agreed with an earlier decision made by the Telangana High Court, which had also refused to give the minister anticipatory bail.
This means the minister might still face arrest in connection with the case.
The Supreme Court dismissed the anticipatory bail plea of former Andhra Pradesh minister Karumuri Venkata Nageswara Rao.
The plea was related to the AP liquor transportation scam.
The bench included Chief Justice Surya Kant, Justice Joymalya Bagchi, and Justice V Mohana.
The court upheld the Telangana High Court's order denying anticipatory bail.
The decision was made on July 29 in New Delhi.
