Nashik Retired Engineer Swindled ₹43 Lakh in Digital Arrest Scam

A retired engineer in Nashik received calls from people who said he was linked to money laundering.

They threatened that he could be arrested and told him he was under “digital arrest.”

They made him stay in front of a camera at home for three days.

Afraid, he sent about ₹43 lakh to bank accounts they chose.

He later realized the callers had tricked him and reported it to the cyber police.

Police have registered a case and are looking for the suspects.

Officials urged people not to trust unknown callers or messages and to contact cyber police about suspected scams.
