Tata Boardroom Battle Raises Questions About Brand Trust

Tata Boardroom Battle Raises Questions About Brand Trust

Tata is one of India’s best-known business groups.

In July, a consultancy again called it India’s most valuable brand.

People trust Tata because they see it as ethical, transparent, and well governed.

A disagreement has now emerged between Tata Trusts and the managers of Tata Sons.

Noel N. Tata leads Tata Trusts, which owns most of Tata Sons.

At a board meeting, Natarajan Chandrasekaran was chosen to lead Tata Sons for another five years.

The disagreement may go to court.

The editorial says that even a fair resolution could hurt Tata’s reputation if the public sees too much corporate conflict.
