Election Commission Faces Questions Over Voter Roll Decisions

Election Commission Faces Questions Over Voter Roll Decisions

The Election Commission helps decide who can vote.

Two election officials reportedly objected to several decisions about voter lists and registration forms.

The Commission says disagreements are a normal part of its work and that the final decisions were unanimous.

More than 13 crore names were removed from draft voter lists in 30 states and union territories.

Removing a real voter’s name can stop that person from voting.

A voter-registration form was also changed, and two officials questioned how that happened.

The Bharatiya Janata Party called the disagreements healthy, while the Opposition said they showed problems inside the Commission.

The article says the Supreme Court should examine the process carefully so every eligible voter is protected.
