India to Build 5,000 Rest Stops on Highways for Travelers
Imagine you're on a long road trip.
The government wants to make your journey better!
They plan to build about 5,000 new rest stops along the highways.
These stops, spaced every 30-40 km, will have things like bathrooms, food courts, and shops, so you can take a break and relax.
The government is asking for help from private companies to build and manage these stops.
This is part of a bigger plan to make traveling on Indian highways safer and more comfortable.
The Ministry of Road Transport & Highways plans to introduce 5,000 new rest stops on national highways.
These rest stops, called wayside amenities (WSAs), will include food courts, toilets, and essential services.
The rest stops will be located every 30-40 km along national highways and expressways.
The Ministry is inviting private sector participation for the development of the WSAs.
Mandatory facilities include food courts, washrooms, parking, and first-aid.
