Suspended Haryana MLA Raises 1984 Riots Issue in Assembly

Jarnail Singh is a suspended Congress legislator in Haryana.

He held up a poster in the state Assembly about the 1984 anti-Sikh riots.

The poster said people who treat the alleged Sikh massacre perpetrators as role models should apologise.

Singh said another Congress legislator, Induraj Narwal, took the poster away.

Singh said he wanted to question praise given to former Congress MP Sajjan Kumar.

Kumar had been serving two life sentences connected with the riots.

Congress leader Kuldeep Sharma also criticised remarks about Kumar and sought action against Deepender Singh Hooda.

The disagreement has created a dispute among Haryana Congress leaders.
