India Approves ₹1.86 Lakh Crore Renewable Grid Push

India Approves ₹1.86 Lakh Crore Renewable Grid Push

India is building a stronger electricity network so it can use more renewable energy.

The new PM-DHARA scheme will improve power lines within states.

It should help move as much as 135 gigawatts of renewable electricity.

Solar and wind power can change depending on the weather and time of day.

Batteries will store some electricity and provide it when solar power is unavailable.

The plan includes 50 gigawatt-hours of battery storage.

It will cost ₹1,86,405 crore, with much of the money going toward power lines and batteries.

The government says this will help India reach its clean-energy goals and could lower electricity costs for consumers.
