Centre Approves Treated Sewage Flow to Yamuna, Youth River Conservation Initiative
Imagine the Yamuna River is feeling a bit thirsty and not very clean.
So, a government group called NMCG decided to help!
They approved a plan to send clean, treated water from a big treatment plant in Delhi, called Coronation Pillar STP, directly into the river.
This will give the river more water to flow with, which is good for its health.
They also want to teach young people about taking care of rivers.
They are starting a program to talk to over 250,000 students in schools about why rivers are important and how to use water wisely.
This is all part of a bigger plan to make the Yamuna cleaner.
The National Mission for Clean Ganga (NMCG) approved channeling treated sewage from Delhi's Coronation Pillar STP to the Yamuna River.
This initiative aims to improve the river's water quality and increase its environmental flow as part of a 30-point action plan.
The project includes constructing pumping stations, laying channels, and creating bridges for drain crossings.
An additional program, 'Youth for Ganga, Youth for Yamuna', was approved to educate over 2.5 lakh students in Delhi-NCR on river conservation.
The youth initiative costs Rs 39.37 lakh and is slated for completion within six months.
