WinZO Seeks Stay on Frozen Assets
WinZO, a gaming company, asked the Karnataka High Court to stop the freezing of its assets worth over ₹500 crore.
The Enforcement Directorate (ED) froze these assets because they said WinZO was not giving back money to gamers and was involved in illegal activities.
WinZO says the ED's actions are illegal and have stopped their business, affecting their employees and vendors.
The ED also mentioned that WinZO was operating games in other countries like Brazil, the USA, and Germany.
WinZO is asking the court to help them by unfreezing their assets so they can continue their business.
WinZO filed a plea in Karnataka High Court to stay the freezing of its assets worth ₹505 crore.
The Enforcement Directorate (ED) froze the assets alleging WinZO held ₹43 crore without refunding to gamers.
WinZO described the ED's actions as illegal and arbitrary, exceeding the powers under the PMLA.
The freeze has halted WinZO's business operations, affecting salary payments to 200 employees and vendor payments.
The ED noted that WinZO was operating real money games in foreign countries like Brazil, the USA, and Germany.
