NEP 2020: Progress and Challenges in Education Reform

NEP 2020: Progress and Challenges in Education Reform

The National Education Policy (NEP) 2020 was introduced six years ago to transform India's education system.

It aims to shift from rote learning to competency-based education, with a focus on problem-solving and conceptual understanding.

The policy has introduced changes like the 5+3+3+4 curricular structure, flexible degree options, and the Common University Entrance Test (CUET).

However, there are challenges in implementation, such as uneven adoption across regions, the need for better teacher training, and addressing the digital divide.

The policy also focuses on vocational education, skill-based learning, and the use of AI in education.

While AI is seen as a tool to enhance teaching, critics argue it should be treated as a transformative force that changes what and how we teach.
