Mumbai Cricketer Vinay Iyer Coaches Japan Against India

Vinay Iyer grew up playing cricket in Mumbai, India.

He once travelled very early every morning to attend practice.

Later, his job took him to Japan, where he discovered that people also played cricket.

He joined a club and eventually started coaching young players.

After Japan changed its rules, he was able to play for the national team in 2021.

A shoulder injury ended his playing career, so he became a coach.

In 2025, he became coach of Japan’s women’s team.

Japan will now play India, the country where Iyer learned cricket, at the Asian Games.

Iyer is excited and nervous because the match feels very special to him.
