Rajasthan HC rejects Bhatt's bail plea
Vikram Bhatt, a Bollywood filmmaker, and his wife were arrested for allegedly taking Rs 30 crore from a businessman named Ajay Murdia for a movie project but not using it properly.
They asked the court to let them out on bail because Vikram was not feeling well, but the court said no.
Vikram also said the case should be handled in Mumbai, but the court said it should stay in Udaipur.
The court decided that the police should keep investigating because it looks like the money might have been taken dishonestly, not just a simple contract disagreement.
Vikram Bhatt and his wife were arrested on December 7 for allegedly defrauding Ajay Murdia of Rs 30 crore.
The Rajasthan High Court rejected their bail plea, citing prima facie evidence of misappropriation of funds.
Bhatt argued that the dispute was civil in nature and should be resolved in Mumbai.
The court observed that the matter involves dishonesty, not just a breach of contract.
The court decided that the police investigation should continue, and the couple remains in judicial custody.
