DoT Releases National Frequency Allocation Plan 2025
The Department of Telecommunications in India has released a new plan called the National Frequency Allocation Plan 2025.
This plan helps manage and allocate radio frequencies for different services.
It will start today and covers a wide range of frequencies from 8.3kHz to 3000GHz.
The plan is important for companies that manage spectrum, wireless operators, and telecom equipment makers.
It includes new changes to support future technologies like 5G, 6G, and satellite services.
The plan also allocates specific bands for better internet access in flights and ships, and supports new technologies like vehicle communication and satellite services.
The government will allocate satellite spectrum administratively, not through auctions, and has already given provisional spectrum to companies like OneWeb, Reliance Jio, and Starlink to meet security requirements.
The Department of Telecommunications (DoT) released the National Frequency Allocation Plan 2025 (NFAP-2025).
NFAP-2025 will allocate radio-frequency spectrum in the range of 8.3kHz to 3000GHz.
The plan introduces strategic revisions to meet the growing demand for next-generation technologies like 5G, 5G Advanced, and 6G.
It allocates the 6425-7125 MHz band for International Mobile Telecommunications (IMT) and Ka, Q, and V bands for satellite services.
The plan also includes additional spectrum for In-Flight and Maritime Connectivity (IFMC) and supports emerging technologies like V2X communication and LEO/MEO satellite services.
