Bengal Gives Districts More Power for Tourism Development

Bengal Gives Districts More Power for Tourism Development

West Bengal wants each district to help develop tourism in its own area.

District administrations will receive more power to plan and carry out tourism projects.

The tourism department will help them prepare project reports and implement the plans.

A new policy will promote one important destination from every district.

Districts will create tourism packages about these destinations.

The state also plans to build 1,000 centres where tourists can drink water and rest.

These centres will include facilities for families with babies and bio-toilets.

A hotel management institute in Siliguri is planned to train people for tourism jobs.
