Gadkari Pushes for Road Safety Awareness in Parliament
Nitin Gadkari, the Minister for Road Transport, asked the Parliament to have a special talk about road safety.
He said that even though the government is trying hard, many people are still dying in road accidents.
He wants everyone to work together to make roads safer.
He mentioned that India has a lot of road accidents every year, and many of the people who die are young.
He also talked about a new plan where people who help accident victims will get a reward.
The government is also fixing dangerous spots on roads and making sure hospitals treat accident victims quickly without any cost for the first seven days.
He said that people need to follow traffic rules and be more careful to save lives.
Nitin Gadkari requested a special debate in Parliament to raise awareness about road safety and traffic rules.
India experiences 5 lakh road accidents and 1.8 lakh deaths annually, with 66% of fatalities aged between 18 and 34.
Immediate treatment after accidents can save 50,000 lives per year, according to an AIIMS study.
The government has launched a scheme to reward Good Samaritans with Rs 25,000 and the title 'Raahveer' for helping accident victims.
Hospitals will receive direct payments for seven-day treatment up to Rs 1.5 lakh to ensure timely medical attention.
