Congress Accused of Hypocrisy on Aravalli Mining
The Congress party is accusing the BJP government of trying to allow mining in the Aravalli Hills, which they say will harm the environment.
However, the BJP says they have imposed a complete ban on new mining leases.
Interestingly, the Congress party themselves proposed a similar mining policy back in 2002 when they were in power.
This has led to accusations of hypocrisy against the Congress party, as they seem to support or oppose policies based on who is in power, rather than the merits of the policy itself.
The Supreme Court has accepted the BJP's definition of the Aravalli Hills for mining purposes, which is based on a 100-meter height criterion.
The Congress party is also known for flip-flopping on other issues, such as the Goods and Services Tax (GST), agriculture reform laws, Aadhaar, and the Citizenship Amendment Act (CAA).
