NSUI Protest Demands Odisha Education Minister's Resignation After Textbook Errors
A big student protest happened in Bhubaneswar, the capital of Odisha.
Students and Congress workers were upset because many mistakes were found in school books and they said teachers were missing.
They wanted the Education Minister, Nityananda Gond, to quit.
The protest leaders tried to block the Chief Minister’s house but the police stopped them and took some leaders into custody.
The protest also said the national government was not helping students.
NSUI rally in Bhubaneswar demanded resignation of Education Minister Nityananda Gond over textbook errors and education sector irregularities.
Protesters, led by NSUI National President Vinod Jakhar, OPCC President Bhakta Charan Das, and Chhatra Congress President Bibhuti Bhusan Mohapatra, attempted a gherao at the Chief Minister's residence.
Police intervened, detaining several senior Congress leaders including OPCC President Das during a scuffle at Lower PMG.
The protest highlighted claims of a 50% shortage of teachers and staff, and more than 2,000 textbook errors in government publications.
Jakhar accused the Modi government of being "anti-youth" and "anti-student" and criticized central action against students at Jantar Mantar.
