Supreme Court to Hear Contempt Pleas Over Shutdown, Detentions

Some people have asked the Supreme Court to take action over a shutdown and the detention of leaders.

Their plea points to an earlier court order from October 9.

That order came during a case about metro stations being closed and trains being cancelled during a protest.

Chief Justice of India Surya Kant told the government not to completely stop people from moving around.

The report does not say when the new pleas will be heard.

It also does not include the government’s response.
