Survey on Encroachment Over Government Pond in UP's Sambhal
In Sambhal, Uttar Pradesh, the government is checking if people have built houses on a pond that belongs to the government.
A team of 25 people, including officials and police, is measuring the land.
The pond is about 3,320 square meters big, and around 40 houses are suspected to be on it.
The officials will give notices to the people living there and let them explain their side in court before taking any action.
Some residents say their families have lived there for over 100 years and disagree with the government's claim about the land.
A 25-member revenue team and police personnel are conducting a land survey in Wajidpur Sarai, Sambhal, to check for illegal encroachments on a government pond.
Around 40 houses are suspected to have been built on the pond land, which is approximately 3,320 square meters in size.
Naib Tehsildar Deepak Jurel is leading the survey, and notices will be issued to the occupants under Section 67 of the Uttar Pradesh Revenue Code.
Residents will have the opportunity to present their case in court before any eviction orders are issued.
Local resident Mohammad Imran Qureshi claims the settlement is over a century old and disputes the government's classification of the land.
