SUV Swept Away in Maharashtra Flood, Family Tragedy
A family was driving in Maharashtra when heavy rain made a river very deep.
Their car tried to cross a bridge but was carried away by the water.
The dad, Avinash, held onto a tree and survived, but his wife and two daughters were lost.
Police and rescue teams found the bodies and the car the next day.
The weather agency had warned that the area would get a lot of rain, and many houses were damaged.
SUV carrying Avinash Khandare, wife Madhavi, and two daughters swept away by the Kupti River in Yavatmal district.
Khandare survived by clinging to a tree while his wife and daughters were lost in the flood.
Bodies recovered with the vehicle on Friday after a night‑time search by police and disaster teams.
Heavy rains had triggered the river overflow; the India Meteorological Department had issued red, orange, and yellow alerts for Maharashtra.
The State Emergency Control Room reported about 100 houses damaged and hundreds of families relocated.
