NSE Reduces Fin Nifty Freeze Limit
The National Stock Exchange (NSE) in India has decided to lower the maximum number of contracts a trader can place in a single order for Fin Nifty index derivatives.
This limit is now 1,200 contracts, down from 1,800.
The change is effective from December 1.
The NSE sets these limits to keep the market stable and prevent very large orders that could cause sudden changes in prices.
If a trader tries to place an order larger than the limit, the system will reject it.
The NSE also announced that the number of unique trading accounts has surpassed 24 crore, and individual investors now hold 18.75% of NSE listed companies, which is the highest in 22 years.
NSE reduces Fin Nifty quantity freeze limit to 1,200 contracts from 1,800.
The change is effective from December 1, 2025.
Maximum order sizes for other indices: Bank Nifty (600), Nifty (1,800), Midcap Nifty (2,800), Nifty Next 50 (600).
Quantity freeze limits are designed to prevent market volatility and erroneous orders.
NSE has over 24 crore unique trading accounts and 12.2 crore unique registered investors.
