Mohali residents protest civic body actions
In Mohali, the local government tried to remove illegal buildings in Phase 4, but the people living there got very upset and protested.
They said the government was being unfair and didn't have the right to do this.
The government said they were following the court's orders.
The people even went to court to stop the government, and the government team had to leave because the people were so upset.
The court will decide what to do next on December 8.
Meanwhile, the leaders of several nearby villages also said they don't want their villages to be merged with the city government.
They said they can manage their own development and don't want the city government to take over.
They even wrote a letter to their local representative to protest this decision.
Municipal Corporation and GMADA initiated an encroachment drive in Mohali's Phase 4, sparking protests from residents.
Residents claimed the drive was arbitrary and filed a petition in the Mohali court, leading to a halt in the demolition work.
The court summoned the GMADA, Municipal Corporation, and police, with the next hearing scheduled for December 8.
Residents alleged that the municipal body targeted a specific house out of personal vendetta, while the Municipal Commissioner denied these claims.
