Rajya Sabha Passes ST Reservation Bill Amid Opposition Protest
The Rajya Sabha, a part of India's Parliament, passed a law to help Scheduled Tribes (STs) in Goa have a better chance to be represented in the Goa Assembly.
This means more ST voices can be heard in the state's government.
While this was happening, some members of the Opposition weren't happy and wanted to talk about something else, so they left the meeting for a while.
The government continued with the voting, approving the bill by voice vote.
They also passed another bill about merchant ships.
This new law is meant to make sure the ST community has a stronger presence in the Goa Assembly.
Rajya Sabha passed the ST reservation bill for Goa via voice vote.
The bill, 'Readjustment of Representation of Scheduled Tribes in Assembly Constituencies of the State of Goa Bill, 2025' was passed.
The Merchant Shipping Bill, 2025, was also passed.
Opposition staged a walkout demanding discussion on Bihar electoral rolls.
Proceedings were briefly disrupted due to objections from both sides.
