Election Day 2025: Poll Opening and Closing Times Across the US
On November 4th, many people in America will vote in elections for their state and local leaders.
It's not a big election for the President, but it's still important for important local decisions.
Not all voting places open and close at the same time.
Some open very early, like at 5 or 6 in the morning, while others open a bit later.
Most places let people start voting around 7 in the morning.
When it's time to close, most places shut their doors between 7 and 8 in the evening.
If you are already waiting in line when they are supposed to close, you will still get to vote.
Each state has its own schedule for when voting can begin and end.
Americans will vote in state and local elections on Tuesday, November 4.
Polling hours vary significantly by state, and sometimes by county or municipality.
Most states open polls at 7:00 AM local time, but some open as early as 5:00 AM or as late as 8:00 AM.
The majority of polling stations close between 7:00 PM and 8:00 PM local time.
Voters already in line before the official closing time will be permitted to cast their ballot.
