Australia Softens Approach to International Student Admissions

Australia is changing how many international students it will let into the country.

The government is slightly increasing the number of students it wants to accept in 2026.

Universities will have more spots, especially those that provide more housing for students or work with universities in Southeast Asia.

Vocational schools will also get more spots, but demand for these programs has dropped.

However, other rules make it harder for international students to come to Australia, so the number of students in 2026 might not reach the new target.
