Masan High-Tech Seeks Approval for 5% Tungsten Expansion Placement
Masan High-Tech Materials wants permission to sell a small part of its company to investors.
It may sell up to 5% of its shares.
The company plans to use the money to expand its tungsten mine and process more of the metal.
It also wants to make more valuable products and improve its finances.
The mine is called Nui Phao and is one of the world’s largest tungsten mines outside China.
Tungsten is a very hard metal used in things such as electronics and ammunition.
The company recently agreed to sell another investor, Elmet Group, a 4.99% stake.
Its shares are traded on Vietnam’s unlisted market, and the company expects to qualify for a Ho Chi Minh City stock exchange listing in 2026.
Masan High-Tech Materials is seeking shareholder approval to privately place up to 5% of its shares.
The company says it will offer shares to strategic investors and domestic and foreign institutional and professional securities investors.
Proceeds would fund mining expansion and deeper processing at the Nui Phao mine, develop higher-value products, and strengthen the balance sheet.
The proposed offering price would not be below the price in the most recent strategic transaction.
The move follows a September deal to sell Elmet Group a 4.99% stake, valuing Masan High-Tech at about $2.5 billion.
