Interacting Weather Systems Trigger Flood-Like Conditions Across Uttar Pradesh

Interacting Weather Systems Trigger Flood-Like Conditions Across Uttar Pradesh

Uttar Pradesh received much more rain than usual over three days.

The rain made roads, villages, and low-lying areas look flooded.

Strong winds also knocked down trees and electric poles.

Fifty-six people died and 46 were injured in rain- and storm-related incidents.

More than 1,000 houses were damaged.

The India Meteorological Department said two weather systems came together.

One system was a weakening depression that traveled from the Bay of Bengal.

The other was a Western Disturbance carrying moisture into northern India.

Their interaction caused intense rain while the monsoon was withdrawing.
