Fake Birth Certificate Scams in Mumbai
In Mumbai, police in Kurla, Mulund, and Deonar have found out that some people have been using fake documents to change birth certificates.
They did this to make unauthorized changes, like changing names or adding wrong information.
The police have registered cases against many people involved in this scam.
They used fake Aadhaar cards and other documents to trick the authorities.
The police are now investigating to find out how many people were involved and to punish them.
This happened over a few years, and the cases are being handled under the Bharatiya Nyay Sanhita (BNS) Act.
Kurla police registered a case against 15 individuals for using forged documents to make unauthorized corrections in birth certificates.
Dr. Shailendra Dattatray Gujar, a former Medical Health Officer, is accused of using his login credentials to make unauthorized changes.
Over 400 applications for delayed birth certificates were received, with 13 from Kurla L Ward, allegedly involving Bangladeshi individuals using forged documents.
Mulund police registered a case against four individuals for submitting forged documents to obtain birth certificates.
Deonar police registered a case in 2024 against five individuals for submitting false information to register over 106 delayed births.
