Ten-Year-Old Builds AI Electronic Nose for Airport Security

Hsu Ting-Wei is 10 years old and created a special electronic nose.

The device uses artificial intelligence to identify smells.

A jury gave Hsu an award for the invention.

The jury chairman said the award was based on the device’s real usefulness.

It was not given only because Hsu is young.

Hsu hopes the device can help stop unsafe pork products from entering countries.

He also wants it to help find drugs such as fentanyl at borders.

The invention could be useful for airport and border security.
