Judge Allows HPE-Juniper Integration During Review
A judge has allowed a big tech company, HPE, to keep working on combining with another company, Juniper Networks, while some states are challenging a deal they made with the government.
The judge said there isn't enough proof that stopping the combination would help competition.
The deal was already finished last summer, and the companies are planning to release new combined products in 2026.
Some states want to stop this because they think it might hurt choices for customers, but the judge isn't sure yet.
A federal judge allowed HPE to continue integrating Juniper Networks while reviewing a settlement over antitrust concerns.
The judge did not find sufficient evidence of irreparable harm to competition to halt the integration.
The deal was closed last summer, and HPE is 'quite far along' with the integration.
The June 2024 settlement between HPE and the Justice Department has been controversial, with allegations of political influence.
A group of states with Democratic attorneys general sought to intervene to oppose the resolution, but the judge raised concerns about the scope of their request.
