Piyush Goyal Seeks Faster India–EAEU Free Trade Agreement Talks

India’s Commerce Minister Piyush Goyal met Andrey Slepnev, a trade official from the Eurasian Economic Union.

They discussed making a planned free trade agreement happen faster.

A free trade agreement can make it easier for countries to buy and sell goods with one another.

The officials also talked about improving market access and increasing trade.

Pharmaceuticals, technology and automobiles were important areas in the discussion.

The Eurasian Economic Union includes Armenia, Belarus, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan and Russia.

India is also working on other trade agreements, including one with the European Union.

The government says India’s exports reached a record level in 2025–26.
